Poetry In Motion With Playing For Success
Year Nine pupils from Worden Sports College in Leyland were treated to a performance poetry session thanks to the Club's 'Playing for Success' initiative.
The Playing for Success pupils enjoyed an afternoon in the National Football Museum with the museum's Poet in Residence Paul Cookson.
After a tour around the museum, Paul talked the young people through his love of poetry, football and music, showing them the museum's current exhibition - Poetry in Motion.
Everyone got involved in Paul's poetry, including a poem he had written that very day spurring England on to victory against Croatia (unfortunately it didn't work!).
The fun continued when the group produced their own poem about a footballer. Everyone supplied their own ideas to produce the poem below. The style of the poem is a kenning - two words per line describing the object of the poem.
Hope you enjoy the poem - I wonder if you recognise any attacking footballers like the one described below...
