"Go there with no fear". That's the defiant message from Youl Mawene as North End go in search of their first three point away haul of the season at Hull's potentially gail swept KC Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Having been restored to the side in midweek following the one-match suspension that ruled him out of last weekend's trip to Barnsley, Youl now wants to prove himself as a vital cog in Preston's defensive wheel and is urging his team-mates to pull out all the stops and improve the Club's disappointing away record.

"As pleasing as it is to be in the side, it would be even better if we had the points on the board as well," he told PNE.com.

"At the minute I know not everything is perfect but I've just got to play my part and help as much as I can. The points return at the start of the season wasn't particularly good, so now we're playing catch-up. The away form still isn't so good, and that means we're under pressure at home almost every game.

"We're standing still if we can't get three points out of every game, so we're going to have to grind for several weeks until we create more chances and score more goals. It means we're going to have to rely on a strong defence. I know it's frustrating for the players, supporters and staff but we're doing our best to work things out."

One big positive for Mawene in recent weeks has been the form of his defensive partner Sean St Ledger, and he was also keen to highlight the positive contribution from the whole of the back line - an element of the team that he believes will be crucial if PNE are to enjoy success in the final game of their recent Yorkshire away day trilogy. He continued:

"It's a long season so we need good competition and plenty of players, so I'm pleased to see that Sean St Ledger is doing really well, and Chiller too when he's come in.

"Sean is a really good talented youngster with bags of energy. He gives everything and that's what we need - players who'll put the boot in and aren't scared of the consequences. He's shown he's definitely a top class player and he's made my job a lot easier lately because he's been playing so well.

"Other individuals are doing well too, like Billy Jones who was doing particularly well before he was unlucky with injury, while Matty Hill and Callum Davidson have also been great and Lonners has been outstanding behind us all.

"However, you get results as a team, and we have to concentrate on getting the team together, keep improving and working together. We're definitely more competitive than we were at the start of the season. We're getting into games more, matching people and giving them a game - we probably weren't competing enough before. Now we have to start picking up regular wins and points, and be particularly strong away from home.

"Hull will be a good test and a good chance to see where we are as a team, and we need to be really strong defensively so we can keep a clean sheet. They've got quality players like Jay Jay Okocha and it's always good to test yourself against top players like that, but its all about us and how we go there and test ourselves.

"It's always a good evaluator to go away from home and take a look at your performance. The challenge is thrown at you and you've got to go into the game with no fear and be absolutely confident of taking your chances."
