Hill Ready To Put In The Graft
The North End players trained under the watchful eye of new Manager of Alan Irvine for the first time on Thursday. PNE.Com caught up with Matty Hill immediately after he and his Preston team mates had been put through their paces at Springfields.
"It has gone very well," said the Lilywhites left-back. "Obviously it's a fresh start for everyone so no doubt the lads are out to impress, it's a bit like being on trial. The tempo was good, everyone was flying around and I think we all had a very good session.
"The Gaffer has said he is only going to change his ideas in the coming weeks but even so in the training session he changed a couple of things. The lads have responded really well and if we can continue that then I'm sure that will show on the pitch on Saturday.
"The Gaffer has stated his intentions and explained why he has come here because he sees us as a good side that are in a false position so hopefully with his experience he can help push us up the league.
"Sometimes when the Manager is changed it is time to reflect and have a look, myself included. You look at it and think 'did I do enough?' and maybe a few people have had a look and maybe we do need to put in that bit extra.
"Hull seems like a distant memory, it is nice to have this little bit of a break to go away, clear our minds and come in fresh. It is a new beginning and now hopefully we can see an improvement."
