There's arguably no bigger derby in the world than the one in Merseyside and Alan Irvine has tasted them first hand for a number of years.

On Saturday PNE's Gaffer will be hoping he will take the experienced gained with his time at Everton and transfer his knowledge into a Preston victory.

Irvine told PNE.Com: "They were very exciting, full of passion and commitment with a lot of endeavour. The games were played a frantic pace and obviously quite nerve wracking because you want to make sure your fans went home happy after the game.

"It's very difficult to predict what is going to happen because one thing you can be certain of is that everybody is going to be keyed up for it and everybody is going to play in a manner which is going to be about their heart than their head.

"Certainly at the beginning of the game there is very little control so they can go either way but you have to make sure you can't be questioned about your application."

Log onto PNE.Com tomorrow for an exclusive full match interview both in written and video format with the Gaffer as everyone at the Club gears up for the first derby in over seven years.
