Forest Beckons For Brett
Brett Ormerod looks set to get his wish for regular first team football in the immediate future after putting pen to paper on an emergency loan deal at League One high-fliers Nottingham Forest until the end of the season.
The striker has been through a stop-start season, starting just eight times in the league with a further ten Championship substitute appearances, netting once in the 2-0 home victory over Plymouth Argyle in October.
He recently asked Preston boss Alan Irvine for a temporary move away from Deepdale, and the gaffer has been true to his word by granting the move to the City Ground in spite of the injury sustained by our own loanee, Craig Beattie, in midweek.
"Brett came to me, obviously frustrated about not getting an opportunity to play, and I agreed to look at the situation," explained Irvine.
"Nottingham Forest came in for him, and obviously they're a good club. It's a club that Brett actually likes - and certainly it's a good opportunity for him.
"I wasn't looking to move Brett out, but he was keen to get this opportunity. I'd already promised Brett that I would let him go before Craig Beattie got the injury, and I felt it would be unfair if I didn't stick to my word.
"We're looking at our options, and we're thinking very hard about whether we should bring anybody else in. Obviously Craig Beattie is likely to be injured for a couple of weeks, so we may bring another player in to cover that."
North End have inserted a clause in the deal allowing the recall of the striker after 28 days if his services are required back at Deepdale.
