The Insider
It's the most unpredictable division of them all, but The Insider gets his punting trousers on and attempts to sort the winners from the losers.
Bristol City 13/10 Draw 23/10 Wolves 21/10
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Billy Ocean would have made a good manager in the Championship as he'd have been able to movivate his players when times were hard. Gary Johnson's players seem to be struggling to hold their nerve as the season draws to a close. Will they bottle their big chance at the Premier League? Wolves will work them hard for the points!
Verdict: Draw
Burnley 13/10* Draw 12/5* Sheffield United 2/1
Owen Coyle's Clarets still sit four tantalising points away from the Play-Off places but their biggest fear must be blowing it all and watching the Lilywhites pip them on the rails to retain their crown of Lancashire's top dogs in the Championship. The Blades still harbour ridiculous notions of the Play-Offs but Kevin Blackwell's main aim will be to finish strong enough to put down a firm marker to claim the Sheffield United manager's job beyond the summer.
Verdict: Burnley
Crystal Palace 4/7 Draw 14/5* Scunthorpe 5/1*
Neil Warnock's side have quietly snuck into the Play-Off frame, this despite the Palace boss refusing to admit that his side were good enough to get in their earlier this year. So we've got a team in the top six who admit they are not good enough to be in their playing a team who probably think they are too good to go down. The Eagles have half a chance of being in the end of season lottery, whilst the Iron know that a defeat will send them straight back down to League One.
Verdict: Palace
Cardiff 10/11 Draw 9/4 Blackpool 10/3
FA Cup Finalists Cardiff will be cock-a-hoop on their return to Ninian Park and they know that they have a decent record on home soil. But will the Bluebirds be distracted by the thought of recording that god-awful Cup Final song? Blackpool were fantastic in getting hammered 3-1 at home to West Brom on Tuesday, they play well at home and get battered? Oh dear!
Verdict: Cardiff
Charlton 10/11* Draw 12/5 Southampton 3/1
Whilst the Rick Astley revival continues unabated on the internet, how great it is to see Nigel Pearson paying his own mini tribute to a bygone era. Shellsuit bottoms and a haircut that is all Erasure/Bronski Beat, it's a look that sends fear into his players. Pearson will need his Southampton side to play like they did in the 1980s if they are to steer clear of the relegation mire. Alan Pardew snuck into the Play-Offs with West Ham via the backdoor a few years back, he'll be hoping that he hasn't lost his keys to that very same backdoor this time around.
Verdict: Draw
Coventry 13/8* Draw 23/10 Stoke 13/8
It's the game neither side dare lose. Coventry spent something like 100 years in the top flight before dropping into the Championship in 2001. A defeat at home to promotion chasing Stoke could see them going down once again and Chris Coleman will be as keen as mustard for that not to happen. Tony Pulis and his band of ex-Northenders still have a chance of automatic, this despite winning only one of their last eight matches. What kind of crazy division is this?
Verdict: Stoke
Hull City 8/11 Draw 5/2* QPR 4/1*
QPR manager Luigi Di Canio was mugged ahead of last weekend's match with PNE, but those of you who were present at Loftus Road will know that it was PNE who were mugged in footballing terms. The London club were missing some pretty important players in the game with the Lilywhites and unless they get at least one of them back they may struggle against the Championship's form team. The Tigers have suffered none of the pre-promotion nerves that those around them seem to be getting but how long can that last?
Verdict: Draw
Leicester 4/6 Draw 11/4* Colchester 4/1
Colchester are down and there are two ways you can look at their match this weekend. They can get all downhearted and sulk and put in the kind of performance that got them relegated or on the flipside they can relax with the pressure off and put in a decent show. Leicester certainly can't relax and anything but a win will do. Have the Foxes got what it takes to escape the dropzone? All will be revealed against the U's.
Verdict: Leicester
Preston 5/6 Draw 5/2* Barnsley 10/3
Only promotion chasing Hull have bettered North End's form since the turn of the year and Alan Irvine has set his side the target of overtaking the Tigers in the form table. A good home record has been the basis of that form and in Barnsley they tackle a side who would have been much higher in the table had they been able to win on the road.
Verdict: Preston
West Brom 5/6 Draw 5/2* Watford 10/3*
A mouthwatering prospect on offer and it's no surprise to see that the Sky TV cameras have snapped up this one and made it a late kick-off. The Baggies currently sit top of the pile but by the time the game gets underway they could be fourth. On the other hand a win for fifth placed Watford might send them top of the pile. The Baggies look to be returning to the kind of form which has made everyone their tips to go up and at home they are a class apart, saying that Watford seem to find their best form away from home. Good luck picking a winner here!
