Fans Team Enjoy Successful Final Weekend
Posted on: Thu 08 May 2008
Another memorable and groundbreaking season for the Preston North End Fans Team came to an end over the May Bank Holday period, with Steve Cowell's men signing off in style after a double-header of victories.
The Sunday afternoon kick-off for the first team at Bristol City allowed the PNE fanatics to take in two fixtures over the course of the weekend, starting off with a 6-0 trouncing of City on the Saturday, before ending the campaign with a 2-1 triumph at Yeovil Town ahead of the Coca Cola Championship action.
In spite of the fact that his side deserve plaudits aplenty for the excellent manner in which they've represented their Club this season - winning matches aplenty and acting as superb ambassadors for PNE across the country - the team boss was keen to pay tribute to those who have helped to create a memorable end to this amazing season.

"It only seems like yesterday since we started our season with a British Championship game against Hibernian," claimed manager Cowell.
"However, the biggest buzz this season has been the arrival of Alan Irvine. Without his efforts I am sure we would be now facing up to League One football. I'd like to say well done to Alan and the lads from everybody connected with the Fans Team.

"On Saturday night, we went round the corner from where we were staying to the team hotel, as we wanted to personally thank Alan and the lads for their efforts in keeping this Club up. He was great with us and we had a good chat."
Here's hoping that 2008/09 yields another season of combined success for the PNE first team and Fans Team alike.
