Central League Fixtures Released
Preston fans can add more dates to their diary for the 2008/09 season after the Football League published this season's fixture list for the re-named Central League reserve team competition.
North End will line up in the ten-team Central League West Division, which comprises the same opponents as last season minus the departures of Welsh border clubs Chester City and Wrexham, who have left the competition.
The action gets underway with a home game against Accrington Stanley on Wednesday 20th August, followed by a trip to Rochdale seven days later.
September sees a month of derbies, with a trip to Blackpool (Wednesday 10th) and a home clash with Burnley (Wednesday 24th) making up the two scheduled fixtures for that month.
The lighter schedule means that the reserves will play an average of two games per month, though October will be a busy time with four games to play before the dark nights and heavy pitches loom large.
As ever with reserve team football, many of the games are subject to change throughout the course of the season, with all the latest news on re-arrangements available up to the minute right here at PNE.com. One game that could be switched very shortly is our home game against Blackpool on Wednesday 21st January, which Club officials are hoping to move to an early September slot (subject to approval from the Seasiders) for the benefit of players, officials and supporters alike.
