Deepdale Duck Backs Community Initiative

The Deepdale Duck was at St Stephen's C of E School in Preston on Wednesday morning to help present prizes to children who had produced winning designs for North End's official Savings Account partners, the Cumberland Building Society.
The Cumberland had asked local school children aged nine to 11, to help design their annual Summary Financial Statement. The children had been asked to draw or paint something that represents their community. The winner received a prize of £25 in a new or existing Cumberland Building Society Young Saver Account as presented by Preston's favourite mascot.
The overall winner, selected by the Society's Board of Directors, will have their work included within the design of the 2006/07 Summary Financial Statement. Commenting on the children's involvement, Preston branch manager Peter Glover commented: "What better way to demonstrate our commitment to the community than handing the design of our annual statement to local children".
