PNE WFC 2 Rotherham United LFC 0
Preston North End's women continued their impressive start to the season with a third consecutive victory to share the league leadership with Stockport County.
Goals from Sconce and Watson made the difference for Simon Gerrard's side as PNE triumphed once again to remain on course for the Premier League.
Rotherham however had the first effort on goal which was well saved by Emma Reader but. Preston soomn created their first shot on target after an excellent cross from Emma Sconce, which Sarah McCrea met with a fierce half volley, the Rotherham keeper magnificently managed to block.
Rotherham did manage to get the ball in the back of the net in the 24th minute after a fine free kick was lofted into the Preston box only for the linesman to have raised his flag to call for a clear offside.
Preston had the final chance of the first half when Sam Cadwallader latched onto a defence splitting pass only to scuff her shot after expertly rounding the keeper.
Preston began the second half well, forcing Rotherham onto the backfoot; Sarah McCrea was again heavily involved in the forward play and shot just over the bar on the hour mark. Several further chances were created with Sconce and Haydock both having opportunities that either went wide or over the bar.
But Rotherham eventually started to tire and Preston took full advantages of this creating sustained pressure, a Preston corner resulted in a goal-mouth scramble and Emma Sconce finally found the touch to tap it into the net, putting Preston 1-0 up.
The second goal of the afternoon soon followed after Sub Fiona Dransfield pressurised the tiring Rotherham defence which allowed the hard working Gemma Watson to help herself to a well-deserved goal.
Rotherham however never gave up and just minutes from the end forced Preston's keeper into a full stretch save. No further chances were created and Preston were comfortable 2-0 winners after a competitive game.
